Want-away Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo set to meet Manchester United officials

Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way back to Manchester United as it has emerged he is due to meet Old Trafford officials in the next three days.

The Real Madrid star had been linked with a move back to England after an unhappy campaign at the Bernabeu but it was hoped the arrival of new boss Carlo Ancelotti would persuade him to stay in Spain.

And Spanish paper El Pais are reporting that the Portugal captain could meet with United officials before heading back to pre-season training in Madrid.

As FIFA prohibit clubs maintaining official contact with players who have contracts in place, both sides have agreed to deny any kind of meeting, which could lead to a huge boost for David Moyes ahead of the new season.

Recently retired manager at Old Trafford Sir Alex Ferguson had been courting Ronaldo, who is believed to want the opportunity to represent the team who set him on his way to becoming one of the best players in the world.

Madrid president Florentino Perez was adamant the £80million forward would sign a new deal to keep him in the Spanish capital, but Ronaldo took to social media to dismiss the claims.
