Luka Modric dismisses Chelsea talk
Luka Modric is committed to fighting for his place at Real Madrid, despite reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.
Modric made the switch from London to Madrid last summer, but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the side and Jose Mourinho’s departure has raised questions about his future at the Bernabeu.
It has been suggested that Modric could follow Mourinho to Stamford Bridge, but while there has been interest from other clubs, the Croatian insists he has no plans to leave Madrid any time soon.
“I’m not even thinking about the possibility I could leave Madrid this summer, but there is interest from other clubs,” Modric is quoted as saying in the Sun.
“Every kid who plays football dreams about playing for Real Madrid. It was the same with me.
“Of course I was sad when Jose Mourinho left. He was the one who insisted in bringing me to Madrid. He is a fantastic coach and I am honoured to have worked with him.
“He really impressed me. It’s such a pleasure to play in his team and talk with him about football.
“I wish him all the best in Chelsea. I believe he will use all his knowledge and expertise at Stamford Bridge once again.”
