Barcelona eyes Chelsea striker Fernando Torres

Not content enough with Messi and Neymar leading the line, Barcelona are reportedly considering a sensational swoop for Fernando Torres.

Catalan daily newspaper Sport claims that Barcelona are mulling over a £17million (20 million Euros) bid for the 29-year-old Chelsea striker this summer.

Although Torres would not regularly start, the Spanish international is seen by the Catalan club as a useful super-sub.

The hope is that Torres would provide a similar impact to that of Henrik Larsson, who became a fan favourite at the Nou Camp for his impact off the bench, particularly when he provided assists for both goals in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Arsenal in the 2006 Champions League final

But Sport may be a bit hopeful in believing that Torres is a 'striker that guarantees between 20 and 25 goals per year'.
