Senate to investigate Baga massacre

The Senate has directed its Committees on Defence, Police and National Intelligence to investigate the killing of over 190 persons including women and children in Baga community of Borno state at the weekend.

The joint committee is expected to submit its findings to the senate within 14 days.

Similarly the House of Representatives also asked President Goodluck Jonathan to constitute a panel of enquiry into the killing of civilians in Borno state.

Lawmakers in both chambers condemned the massacre in Baga saying it is unacceptable in a civilised society that is not at war.
