Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul out for 5 weeks with ankle injury
Newcastle could be without goalkeeper Tim Krul for up to five weeks as he battles to recover from an ankle injury.
Krul was injured during a challenge by striker Jonathan Cristaldo in Newcastle’s Europa League clash in Kharkiv last week.
He was spotted leaving the Metalist Stadium on crutches and a visit to a specialist has revealed he will be out for up to five weeks.
“His ankle is still a little bit swollen. We think [he will be out for a] maximum four weeks, five weeks, but we are hoping for less than that,” Newcastle manager Alan Pardew revealed.
Pardew called in Rob Elliott for Sunday’s 4-2 win over Southampton and he will continue in goal for the weekend’s match against Swansea.
