Luis Suarez signs new long-term contract with Liverpool; ...taking his wages to £120,000 a week

The Uruguay forward committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

Moments after signing the deal, Suarez told the club website: "To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.

"That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.

"When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool. I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.

The Uruguayan’s incredible season has seen his wages rocket from £80,000 a week to around £120,000 under the club’s new pay structure.

Suarez, 26, only signed a new deal last summer which doubled his basic wages from £40,000 to £80,000 a week.

This season the striker has taken his game to new levels.
