ex-Police IG, Hafiz Ringim seeks asylum in UK
Hafiz Ringim, predecessor to Mohammed Abubakar as the Inspector General of Police is said to have applied to the government of the United Kingdom for asylum.
He is presently living in UK where he sneaked into, shortly after he was sacked by the Nigerian government.
President Goodluck Jonathan had sacked the former IG following alleged shoddy practices in the handling of cases relating to Boko Haram.
His asylum application is said to predicate on grounds of possible assassination by Boko Haram should he return to Nigeria anytime.
He was said to have narrated in his application that his escape during the attack by Boko Haram on the Force Headquarters of the Nigeria Police was quite narrow and out of sheer luck.
