Ekiti State University (EKSU) expels 50 students

The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday said 50 part-time students of the institution had been expelled for forgery.

The Dean of Student Affairs of the institution, Prof. Isaac Adanlawo, told newsmen in Ado-Ekiti that the expelled students were caught during the on-going semester examinations.

According to him, the erring students conspired among themselves to forge examination clearance certificates usually issued to only students who had completed all payments.

He said the affected students were caught in the examination hall with the fake exam permits purported to have been issued by authorities of the university.

Adalawo said since issues relating to fraud and sharp practices attracted a maximum penalty of expulsion, the affected students were recommended for dismissal by the institution’s Students Disciplinary Committee.

He said the committee found the students guilty while the vice chancellor approved the recommendation as a deterrent to others.

“We have said times without number that the university will not condone gross irresponsibility and acts that can tarnish its image from anyone no matter how lowly or highly placed,’’ he said.
