QPR striker Djibril Cisse joins Qatari club Al Gharafa on season-long loan

Djibril Cisse has joined Qatari side Al Gharafa on loan until the end of the season - and will wear No 99!

Harry Redknapp has allowed the 31-year-old to leave after he was deemed surplus to requirements following the £8million signing of Loic Remy.

Remy scored on his debut against West Ham after latching on to a Adel Taarabt through ball.

Cisse, who has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Rangers this season, will travel to the Middle East where he will link up with former Portsmouth manager Alain Perrin.

He posted a goodbye tweet before he left: 'Thanks to all the QPR fans and sorry i didn't do as good as last season. Thanks for all the support and no doubt we are staying up #COYRS.'

QPR, who are battling for Premier League survival at the foot of the table, confirmed the switch this afternoon.

They posted on their official Twitter feed: 'R'S FRONT-MAN Djibril Cisse has put pen to paper on a loan deal with Al Gharafa.'
