Kaduna State House of Assembly confirms Nuhu Bajoga as Deputy Governor

Kaduna State House of Assembly Thursday confirmed the nomination of the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, as the Deputy Governor of the state.

Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, had last week nominated Bajoga’s name as his deputy.

The confirmation came as some youths from the Southern part of the state, where Bajoga came from staged a peaceful protest to the Assembly, insisting that the state chairmanship of the PDP should still remain in Southern Kaduna.

Speaker of the Assembly, Alhaji Muazu Usman Gangara, presided over the emergency session, which was held under closed door and lasted for about 10 minutes.
The Assembly had been on Christmas recess.

Speaking on the process leading to the nomination, Hon. Aliyu Balarabe Jigo, representing Magajin Gari Constituency, Birnin Gwari, said: “I will like to commend Bajoga as the new Deputy Governor of the state. The new deputy governor is a rather senior person and this is a welcome development in the state considering the fact that the Governor is a young gentle man.”

“They will all work for the development of the state, so the elderly man will assist him, he has the experience and maturity to assist the governor. He is a graduate of Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna,” he said.

Following his confirmation, Bajoga is expected to be sworn in by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Rahila Cudjoe.
