Eight Boko Haram members arrested after failed attempt to bomb police patrol vehicle

Luck ran out of eight members of the dreaded Islamic Boko Haram sect in the northern city of Kano when the police drag net fished them after trying to bomb a police patrol vehicle.

The incident occurred at about 7a.m. when the terrorists trailed the police van and threw explosive at it.

The swift movement of the police van made their mission unsuccessful as the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) missed its target.

There have been pockets of bomb blast within the ancient city of Kano in recent times and security forces have been responding swiftly to the attacks being perpetrated by Islamic militants seeking for the Islamisation of Nigeria and the abrogation of modern democracy.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya, “On Thursday 6th December, 2012, at about 0730hrs when a Police Patrol team in a Vehicle were heading to a duty post along Ring Road, a Taxi (Golf car) was following behind and the occupants threw an explosive device in the Police Vehicle.

“The Policemen immediately disembarked from their Vehicle, cordoned the area and arrested the eight occupants. No injury was sustained during the attack. Investigation has already commences.”
