Arsene Wenger denies PSG rumours
Arsene Wenger has moved to deny reports that he will take over from Carlo Ancelotti at Paris Saint Germain at the end of the season.
Ancelotti’s position at the Parc des Princes has come into question following a disappointing start to the season but they remain firmly in the hunt for the Ligue 1 title after a 4-0 win over Evian at the weekend.
Recent speculation has seen Jose Mourinho linked with a move to the club, while a report in Le Parisien newspaper claimed that Wenger had met with representatives of PSG owner Sheik Hamad-Al-Thani to discuss a possible switch.
Wenger has admitted to being attracted by PSG but the Frenchman has denied rumours that he will take over from Ancelotti in the summer.
“It is the wrong information, believe me,” Wenger told French TV station TF1.
“They haven’t contacted me and I think they must support Ancelotti.
“When a club is surrounded by rumours, it’s because they are not strong enough and aren’t in control of things. Anyway, I always honour my contract.”
Wenger has come under pressure from Arsenal fans who are unhappy with some of the decisions he has made this season, leading to speculation that he could leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
Indeed, he has confirmed he will consider his position at the end of the season, especially if Arsenal fail to win a trophy.
