Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has been named the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month for September after scoring five goals in four matches.
Fletcher, 25, signed by Sunderland for £12m from Wolverhampton at the end of the transfer window, has started to repay his transfer fee with five goals in four league appearances.
They included a double on his debut against Swansea City and the winner in a 1-0 home win against Wigan.
He said: 'It was good to get off on my debut and get a goal. I wanted to hit the ground running, there was a lot of pressure on me coming in to the club.
'I'm delighted for a little personal award. We have had a good start to the season so hopefully it will continue.'
