Samuel Eto'o returns to international duty with Cameroon national team

Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o is in line to represent his national team once again, after being included in the squad named by coach Jean-Paul Akono to face the Cape Verde Islands.

The former Barcelona and Inter striker suffered a falling-out with the team management that he had branded 'amateurish' after a friendly match against Algeria, proceeding to boycott international duty with a number of other key squad members.

However, after speaking with Cameroon prime minister Philemon Yang, he has placed himself at his coach's disposal once more, much to Akono's relief.

"My first major challenge was to bring back some very key players who suspended their participation in the national team, and reconcile them to restore calm and serenity ahead of this major encounter," the 60-year-old told Reuters.

Eto'o has made over 100 appearances for the Indomitable Lions, racking up an impressive 54 goals in the process.
