Luka Modric urged Gareth Bale to leave Tottenham for Real Madrid

Luka Modric has urged Gareth Bale to turn his back on Tottenham and move to Real Madrid.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been repeatedly linked with the 23-yer-old, who is considered one of the best players in the Premier League, but he has penned a new deal with Tottenham in each of the last two seasons.

In June The Welshman committed his future to the club until 2016 but he continues to be linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with the Bernabeu his likely destination.

Modric made the switch from London to Madrid in the summer, completing a £30million deal to join the Spanish giants, and the Croatia international would love the opportunity to be reunited with his former Tottenham team-mate.

“He should play for Real Madrid and I hope he’ll come,” he told BBC Radio Wales. “It would be amazing and I think he can [play for Real Madrid]. He’s a good enough player.”

Davor Suker believes joining Real Madrid would be the best move of Bale’s career, while former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has likened him to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
