Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby out for 3 weeks with thigh strain

Abou Diaby will miss Arsenal's Champions League match with Olympiakos on Wednesday – and the next three weeks – with a thigh strain.

The France midfielder picked up the injury in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea and could be joined on the sidelines by Mikel Arteta, who faces a fitness test on an ankle knock.

"Arteta will have a test tomorrow morning," Arsène Wenger said. "We will make the decision then whether we include him in the squad or not. Apart from Diaby and Arteta, everyone came through well."

Better news for Wenger was that Jack Wilshere emerged unscathed from an Under-21 game on Monday, his first competitive appearance after missing 14 months through injury.

"He came through it all right," the manager said. "There was no reaction. We are pleased but it is now down to taking the right time to ease him slowly back. We are all very happy, and he especially must be exceptionally happy, but he has been out for 14 months."
