Ryan Bertrand signs new five-year contract with Chelsea

Ryan Bertrand has agreed a whopping new double-your-money five-year contract with Chelsea - despite playing just eight league games for the club.

The 23-year-old, who was thrust into the limelight when he started last season's Champions League final, only signed a new deal last summer.

But Chelsea are desperate to keep hold of the full back and have moved to ensure his future lies at Stamford Bridge.

Bertrand is viewed as the long-term successor to Ashley Cole who has entered the final year of his contract and has yet to agree new terms.
