Liverpool defender Martin Kelly out for the season with knee injury?!

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly’s season could be over.

He ruptured knee ligaments on Sunday but then tweeted: “What I can say is it’s not the worst injury I’ve had and I’ll be fighting for my place next year when I’m back fitter and stronger.”

Last night scan results confirmed fears that he will need reconstruction surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament.

But there was some good news for the other two Reds injured against Manchester United.

Daniel Agger’s agent Per Steffensen revealed: “He hasn’t torn any ligaments, he has got a bruise on his knee.”

And hospital tests on Fabio Borini allayed fears of a break, showing he has suffered a bruised foot and swollen ankle.
