Police Anti Bomb Squad defuse 4 bombs in Kano
The Police Anti Bomb Squad in Kano, on Wednesday, defused four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) discovered by residents behind a popular bakery located at Rijiyar Zaki Quarters of the metropolis.
The development came barely 24 hours after a similar discovery was made at the Federal College of Education, Kano State.
An eyewitness in Kano explained that some residents of the area discovered the explosives near the bakery, but added that "the anti-bomb disposal unit was quickly alerted and they promptly deployed their personnel to the scene.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer, Rilwanu Dutse, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said that there was no fresh bomb uncovered in the area. “It was left over of IEDs used by the extremist in a failed attack on our patrol vehicle last Sunday," he said.
According to Dutse, the deployment of the anti- bomb squad to the scene on Wednesday was principally to defuse the IEDs.
The PPRO called on members of the public to go about their normal activities, as security operatives were on top of the situation.
