Ondo State Governorship Election: 4 people arrested over attack on Rotimi Akeredolu's convoy

The police in Ondo State on Wednesday confirmed the attack on the Convoy of the Action Congress of Nigeria candidate for the October 20 governorship election in the state, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, at Okeluse in Ose Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer in the state police command, Mr. Aremu Adeniran, confirmed that the attack happened after a clash between the supporters of Akeredolu and the Labour Party in the area.

He said, “Four people were arrested and taken to the Ifon Division of the police but they were later transferred to the Owo Area Command where the attackers are currently being investigated.”

The Akeredolu Campaign Organisation had through a statement by its Director of Media, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, on Tuesday mentioned the attack and asked the security agencies to curtail the alleged violent activities of the LP in the state.

Ajanaku said, “It has become a stock in trade for the Labour Party to unleash violence on the opposition parties in the state, during rallies and meetings.

“This is a very bad omen and a clear indication that the party is jittery in the face of inevitable loss in the forthcoming election.”
