Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong completes £3.5m move to AC Milan

Nigel De Jong has wrapped up his £3.5million switch to AC Milan.

The Holland hardman flew to Italy for a medical yesterday and the deal has now gone through.

De Jong, 27, only had one year left on his current deal and Manchester City were yet to offer him an extension. And he has now ended his stay at the Etihad by joining the Serie A giants.

City boss Roberto Mancini said: "I am sorry because Nigel was an important player for us but if he is happy, I am happy for him.

"I am sure he will do really well in the Italian championship."
