Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva out for 3 months with thigh injury

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been sidelined for two to three months with a thigh injury.

The Brazilian suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December in Liverpool’s League Cup win over Chelsea and missed the second half of last season.

Lucas managed to complete a full pre-season for Liverpool but now faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury in the draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

The 25-year-old managed just four minutes of action before he had to be replaced at Anfield on Sunday and has now been ruled out for two to three months.

Lucas said on Twitter: “No words to describe my feelings at the moment. It is been hard to be positive but I am sure better days will come. YNWA.”
