Farmer bites snake (cobra) to death!

A farmer who was bitten by a cobra got his own back on the venemous snake - by biting it to death.

Mohammed Salmodin felt the deadly snake's fangs sink into him while he was tending to his paddy field in Nepal.

But he took revenge on the six-foot serpent, by chomping on it until it died.

Rice farmer Mohammed told reporters: "A snake charmer told me that if a snake bites you, bite it until it is dead and nothing will happen to you.

"When I realised that a snake had bit me, I went home to get a torch and saw that it was a cobra. So I bit it to death."

But thick-skinned Mohammed did not think to go to hospital until he was encouraged to do so by his neighbours.

The farmer was thought to have been bitted by a common cobra in his home village 125 miles south-east of Kathmandu.

It is estimated 20,000 people are bitten by snakes in Nepal each year, causing around 1,000 deaths.
