Pregnant Lady Raped And Killed By Her Lover's Friend!

A man raped and murdered his close pal's pregnant girlfriend then set fire to her bed to cover up his crime.

Carl Whant, 27, plunged a knife into the stomach of Nikitta Grender, 19. It penetrated through to the liver of her unborn baby daughter, the jury was told.

He was also said to have stabbed Nikitta in the neck, severing an artery. Whant is then alleged to have set fire to her bed to make it look like Nikitta had died in a house fire.


Nikitta was just two weeks away from giving birth to her baby.

She and boyfriend Ryan Mayes, 18 — a friend of Whant and his second cousin — had already named the child Kelsey-May.

Prosecutor Greg Taylor QC told Newport Crown Court, South Wales, that Ryan "idolised" Whant and regarded him as a father figure. The two men worked together as salesmen for a local window company.

But Nikitta did not like him and thought he was a bad influence, the court was told. Mr Taylor added: "She knew when they went out the likelihood was they would drink too much and take cocaine."

The court heard that Nikitta was murdered after Whant went out to a party with Ryan. But he slipped away at 5am telling Ryan he was going to his grandmother's to get cigarettes.

Mr Taylor said Nikitta was then raped and murdered at her two-bedroom home. He said: "Someone entered that flat, someone raped her, someone murdered her and in the process destroyed her unborn child.

"She was stabbed right through the neck cutting her carotid artery. She was also stabbed in her stomach and the knife penetrated the unborn baby."

Whant then set fire to the double bed Nikitta was on.

Mr Taylor said: "This was an attempt to cover up these crimes... the man who did that was Carl Whant."

Whant, of Newport, denies murder, child destruction, rape and arson. The case continues.
