New Electrically Powered Concept Car

It's so small it would fit in the bed of a traditional pickup, but this is in fact the latest concept car set to tackle the U.S. market.

Smart has unveiled the 'for-us', its tiny take on the classic U.S. pickup truck, and labels it the perfect vehicle for an urban society.

The electrically powered concept truck, which is capable of speeds up to 80mph, was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Although it would appear to be very simple to park, and find a space to fit the vehicle, the 'for-us' does not appear to feature a roof so might not be suitable for areas with high rainfall.

It does have a video camera in place of a traditional rear-view mirror which is mounted on a smart phone mounted above the dashboard and the entire vehicle takes eight hours to fully charge.

VITAL STATISTICS
POWER: Lithium-ion battery and a 55-kilowatt magneto-electric motor
SIZE: 139.6 inches long (11ft 8ins)
SPEED: 96lbs of torque allows 'for-us' to travel at up to 80mph
INTERIOR: Mother-of-pearl white and brushed aluminium. Video camera instead of rear-view mirror.
OTHER: Off-road tyres and space for two electric bikes in 'cargo' hold
