Kabir Sokoto, Alleged Mastermind Of Christmas Day Bombing Escapes From Police Custody

According to sources, the alleged Boko Haram member and suspected mastermind of the Christmas Day bombing of the St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Kabir Sokoto, has escaped from the custody.

Media reports said Sokoto was allegedly arrested alongside a serving military personnel, on Saturday at the Borno State Governor's lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, although the police claimed he was arrested in Abaji, an Abuja suburb.
However, indications arose that the police had been under intense pressure from top government officials since Sokoto's arrest, leading to controversy over where he was arrested and the agency in charge of his case.

Sources say two sons of a prominent traditional ruler were allegedly involved in the Madalla bombing hence the pressure on the police.

The suspect, who is also an arms dealer, had been taken back to Abaji as part of the investigation where he was allegedly rescued by some militant youths.
