Senate "Stand By" Alleged Boko Haram Sponsor, Senator Ndume!

The senator accused of sponsoring terrorist activities will continue to enjoy his privileges while on trial!

Senator Ali Ndume, alleged to have been a major financier of dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, will continue to enjoy the privileges of his office and the support of the Senate despite being held in custody by the State Security Service.

Ndume is the Deputy Majority Whip and also a member of a presidential committee set up to resolve the Boko Haram menace. After a closed door meeting on Tuesday, the Senate announced that it will “stand by” Ndume.

“Investigation should be concluded, indictments should be made and then the Senate may reconsider its stance; but as of now, it is a mere allegation and we will stand by him,” said Enyinaya Abaribe, the Senate spokesperson. “He is still a member. The constitution presumes suspects innocent. This is a mere allegation.”
