Lagos State University Exempts Old Students From Paying New Tuition Fees, New Students To Commence Registration And New Fees Payment!

Respite has come the way of students of the Lagos State University (LASU), as the authorities of the school have exempted the old students from paying the proposed tuition fees which has been generating disagreement between the students and the univer-sity’s management.

This, according to a special bulletin issued from the office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor John O. Obafunwa, at the end of an emergency meeting of the school’s senate on Monday, was one of the far reaching decisions taken in response to protest by the students’ union body of the institution over increase in tuition fees.

The resumption date for returning students of the University has also been extended by one week, as old students now are expected to resume studies on Monday, December 5, 2011. However, all students are expected to vacate the University premises in view of the fact that they are still on vacation.

Meanwhile, new students who have been offered Provisional Admission for the 2011/2012 academic session are to commence their registration and payment of school fees with immediate effect. Deadline for registration and payment of school fees is Wednesday, November 30, 2011.

The bulletin also disclosed that the authorities had suspended the activities of the students’ union of the institution and mandated the management of the institution to henceforth deal directly with the students’ consultative forum.

Deans of Faculties, Heads of Department and Lecturers in the institution have been directed to interact more with the students.
