LAGBUS Introduces Scheduled Services
Lagos The Managing Director, LAGBUS Asset Management, Mr Tunde Disu, said on Sunday that the company had introduced scheduled services in all its existing routes in Lagos.
Disu said that the scheduled bus services would ensure efficiency, rather than unnecessary delays at the parks. He noted that commuters would know the actual time the first bus would leave the various routes and the bus code. “The bus captain (the drivers) knows when to leave the park for a particular trip, they know their lay-over time, they know their travel time and they know the number of trips they should do and time to spend at the park.’’
The Managing Director said that the public time table would be distributed to the commuters to know the kind of services to expect both during the week and at weekends. Mr Dotun Onifade, Head, Planning Unit, also said that arrangements had been made to address various challenges, including traffic gridlock experienced in market areas and construction sites.
Onifade said that the challenges of the chaotic traffic situation would be addressed by taking careful cognisance of the peak hours and the areas involved. He said the first phase of the scheduled services had commenced in 10 routes.
The routes are Leventis to Eko Hotel; Obalende to Eko Hotel; Agege to Oshodi; Oshodi to Wharf; Dopemu to CMS; Iyana-Ipaja to CMS; Oshodi to Obalende; Ajah to TBS and Obalende to Ajah.
Onifade urged commuters to use of the opportunities, to allow them to plan their journey. (NAN)
