Pastor Adeboye asks for 70,000 BABIES as Birthday Present

IN a rare display of passion for babies, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye asked for God an unusual birthday gift to mark his 70th birthday next year.

Moved by the joy on the faces of several thousands of women who trooped out at the Redemption Camp venue of the ongoing 59th annual convention of the church to give thanks for answered prayers, Pastor Adeboye said he had asked God to give him 70,000 babies between now and his next birthday in 2012.

“I love children. If I had my way I would have had 100 children, but I thank God, He is now giving thousands of babies because He knows my love for babies,” he said. “Let me tell you a secret. Next year I will be 70 years old. I have asked God to give a special kind of birthday present. I asked my Father to give me 70,000 children in this ministry as my birthday present,” he added.

Continuing, he charged the mammoth crowd of worshippers at the Holy Ghost Arena to be on the look out and begin the count from now, “because by the time you come to the convention next year, I can assure you that Father would have answered my petition.”
Perplexed by the magnitude of the number of women who had given birth within the last convention and now in the mission and who came out last night to give thanks, Adeboye wondered why people will not praise God, saying “this is not the kind of miracle anybody can manipulate.

“This must be God! No one else can do this, but my Father who is in Heaven. Just imagine the number of families who hitherto were weeping daily for the joy of motherhood and now they are joyous. It is simply amazing,” he kept on saying while urging the crowd of worshippers to clap continually for God.

Meanwhile the number children delivered during the convention has risen to 97 with the girls still maintaining a comfortable lead. As at 6.00 p.m. yesterday a total of babies delivered stand at 97, which has already surpassed the figure for last year. Last year, a total of 92 babies were born. A breakdown of the figure shows that 56 girls have been delivered as against 41 boys.
