Celebrity bikini body secrets

Summer always brings out Hollywood's big name bodies in skimpy swimwear - and this year has been no exception.

From A-list beauties like Halle Berry, Rihanna, Miranda Kerr, Kelly Brook, Christine Bleakley to reality show babes like Sam Faiers, celebs have flaunted their curves and made us feel green with envy. But how do they look so good while the rest of us are hiding under our kaftans? Read their diet and fitness secrets here.

Halle Berry (Age: 45)

Halle combines healthy eating with a good workout programme. She starts her day by jogging outdoors, doing some crunches and lunges. She also does strength training workouts in the afternoon. She says: "Because I'm diabetic, I totally changed my diet and workout regime. I don't eat fried foods or refined sugar - only natural sugar in fruit and vegetables.  And I don't eat carbs a lot."

"I'm not obsessive, like I have to have the best butt or the best abs, but I like feeling strong and healthy." Halle is said to be a fan of the Fat Flush Plan - a low-carb detox which is very low in sugar.

Geri Halliwell (Age: 39)

The former Spice Girl, who is only 5ft 2in tall, was a yo-yo dieter before finally finding a healthy approach to food and fitness. Geri says: "I don't have a strict diet any more. I eat cake, crisps, sugar-free chocolate and chips if I want to."

She added: "I can't be bothered to follow a gruelling food plan. I'm a petite person and if I eat relatively healthily I'll stay that way." "I walk and I do yoga. The most vigorous exercise I do is running around after my daughter, Bluebell."

Coleen Rooney (Age: 25)

The 25-year-old WAG has slimmed down thanks to regular exercise and a healthy diet. She works out with a celebrity personal trainer, Elise Lindsay. A friend of Coleen told Closer magazine, "She eats a lot of salads with chicken or fish as well as loads of veg."

Coleen makes sure she does at least 30 minutes a day of cardio, either a run, swim or fast walk.

Coleen said: "Because I am short, I sometimes look bigger than I am - especially in pictures." Elise credits using a vibrating Flexi Bar for short periods of time as the key to her client's success.

Christine Bleakley (Age: 32)

Often seen working out at fiance Frank Lampard's Chelsea FC gym, Bleakley says she has switched weight training for running and resistance exercises to keep fat down and tone muscles. Christine says she is more comfortable in gym gear rather than dresses.

She said: "I don't want to have Madonna arms so I am conscious about not doing too much exercise."

Danielle Lineker (Age: 32)

Danielle Lineker's slender figure and glamorous lifestyle has made her a successful model.

"I'm not a big gym bunny because I really find it quite difficult to spare the time. But I love using a gadget called an Easyshaper at home. It's just like doing Pilates and fantastic for toning. My dog Snoop helps me with the cardio side as we both enjoy long walks."

"For dinner I like to keep light so I usually have a protein and vegetable dish such as chicken, steak or fish with some veg. I'm not really big on desserts. If I fancy something sweet I'll have chocolate."

Kelly Brook (Age: 31)

Curvy Kelly Brook is renowned for being a proud size 10. Men everywhere could be heard cheering when Kelly revealed her best tip for toning was getting more bedroom action.

The star also has a personal trainer to stay fit and tries to hit the gym at least three times a week. She prefers outdoor activities at her farm in Kent, like riding a bike, swimming, or walking her dog.

Having a child has made Miranda more aware of the importance of looking after her own body. She said: "Eating healthily is a priority not just for me, but for my son. When I do eat healthily, I have more energy. I love spinach, avocado, lots of greens and broccoli."

Miranda also loves to work out. She says: "I have a regular yoga routine I practice and on top of that I have a trainer."

Rihanna (Age: 22)

Rihanna follows the Low Carb Diet and has a personal trainer called Ary Nunez. The singer admits her body is the result of "a lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill."

"Cardio is the key. I have a personal trainer who travels with me if we have a big event coming up. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me."

Rihanna said: "I like carbs, but at the end of the day, carbs are the enemy. I'm working out and trying to eat healthy. That makes me lose weight without even thinking about it."

Gwyneth Paltrow (Age: 38)

Gwynnie is 38-years-old and has had two children yet still looks amazing in a bikini. Her secret: Intensive exercise. Gwyneth works out five days a week, 45 minutes of cardio and 45 minutes of muscular strength. She uses celebrity personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, who also worked with Madonna until they parted ways.

Gwyneth eats a very healthy diet and rarely lets loose on snacks or wine. She said: "I try to avoid barbeque potato chips. They're my weakness. I always eat right. When I want to lose, I eat less pasta, bread and potatoes."
