President Goodluck Jonathan sworn in First Female Chief Justice of Nigeria
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Monday swore in the first female Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Maryam Aloma Mukhtar, and also conferred on her the national honour, Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
Mukhtar was the first female lawyer in the defunct Northern Nigeria and first female high court judge in the North before rising to become the first female Justice of the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court.
