Drogba could leave Chelsea at the end of this season

The Cote D'Ivoire striker's future at Stamford Bridge is 'reportedly' in doubt after the club allegedly broke off negotiations over a new deal, leaving him free to discuss Bosman move

The Cote D'Ivoire striker’s current deal is set to expire at the end of this season and if an extension is not negotiated by the new year he will be free to talk to clubs about a summer move. It is thought that representatives for the 33-year old have been trying to get the forward a new two-year extension that will see him end his career at Stamford Bridge after a decade with the club.

But not much progress has been made on a new deal for the player, who rejected offers from Tottenham and Galatasary in the summer transfer window. The Blues are expected to reopen talks with Drogba before the end of the season but with young star Daniel Sturridge in good form and Chelsea giving Fernando Torres every opportunity to get himself back to form, chances are limited for Drogba.

The club also recently signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who is thought to be a long-term replacement for Drogba, but even he is finding it hard to break into the team after being omitted from the Champions League squad and starting only in a League Cup match. Chelsea has been reluctant to tie players down to long-term contracts of late and it is thought that manager Andre Villas-Boas will want to add some younger faces.
